UNIQUELY DUTTON
In 2011 I was contracted to work on the creation of the new Sonoran Jaguar Exhibit at The Living Desert in Palm Desert, California. The habitat was themed as an old abandoned mining area. I was responsible for constructing and fabricating all the rockwork facing the jaguar building—designing, bending, shaping, and tying the steel armature, securing the diamond-mesh lath, directing the plaster crew, and troweling the final coat of cement in preparation for texturing. I then carved, textured, and painted the surfaces to simulate the natural boulder formations found throughout the Coachella Valley.
