WELCOME TO MY JOURNEY

The archives offer a partial window into the many projects completed over the past several decades. Each gallery reflects work JoAnn designed and/or built independently, across a wide range of settings, from wildlife exhibits and fabricated environments to private commissions and museum installations.

These projects represent a portion of her solo body of work following her time with The Larson Company, the world-renowned design/build firm based in Tucson, Arizona, known for its global contributions to themed environments. As an artist/sculptor/construction fabricator working within many facets of that company, JoAnn gained invaluable hands-on experience with advanced materials and technologies, foundational knowledge she would later expand upon in her own creative ventures. Projects completed under Larson’s name are not included in this portfolio, but their influence remains embedded in her methodology and mastery.

Many of the artist’s own projects took place before documentation was a priority. Photos have been lost, never taken, captured quickly, or preserved only in low resolution as she was already moving on to the next job. What’s gathered here is what remains, a fragmentary record of a long and evolving creative path.

Though incomplete, these galleries hold her spirit of creativity, ingenuity, and perseverance. It is a retrospective homage to the earlier versions of JoAnn throughout the years, rooted in her inherent ability to meet each challenge head-on, adapt to ever-changing circumstances, and embrace unique out-of-the-box projects with the quiet certainty that depth, vision, and resourcefulness would reveal the way.

Her ongoing awareness of creative flow continues to guide her approach, meeting each project with openness, curiosity, and the quiet confidence that something remarkable will emerge.
